Post 3- Vocabulary

1. Word: Scanning 

Meaning: when you upload employee file into the computer.
Context: At my internship, there is a girl name Wendy who does all the scanning.


2. Word: On Base

Meaning: Computer system that has employees benefit and personal data.

Context: All the employees information are located on base.

3. Word:  Miscellaneous  

Meaning: The tab on base which stores employee data. Ex: employee evaluations.

Context: To find some employee information, you need to check the miscellaneous file to find it.


4. Word: Transaction

Meaning: process that update employee data into the people soft system.

Context: Some times if I have problem finding a file, the co-workers will tell me to check on the transaction section.


5.Phrase: File Preparation
Meaning:Process for preparing employee data to scan into on base Context.
Context: At first, I didnt knew what was file preparation but know it look easy for me.

The Interview

1. How long have you lived in New York?
I've lived here my whole life
.
2. Where did you live before?
Queens and Manhattan

3. Where did you go to high school? What kind of student were you in high school? What were your favorite classes/least favorite? What sports and extracurricular activities did you do?
I went to Saint Agnes H.S it's a private school and it is boy school. I was an excellent student and my favorite class was humanity. I was in the track team, Bowling Club and I worked with the school newspaper.

4. Did you go to college? Graduate school? If so, where? For how long? What degree(s) did you earn? Are you interested in going back to school? If so, what do you plan to study?

Yes, I went to Hunter college in Manhattan, 4 years, I earned a B.A degree and after a while I went to NYU for my masters degree.

5. How did you choose your current occupation?
There was a job opening at NYU and I applied eventually I got lucky and they choose me.

6. What steps did you take to get this job? How did you learn about it? How many interviews did you have? Was the hiring process difficult, not difficult? If a person was looking for a job at your company, what advice would you offer?
Because I was already an NYU student, it was easier for me plus I was already at the field. I had 2 interviews. If someone is looking for job at NYU, you should make sure you have a good resume, computer experience and time management.



7. How long have you worked here? Have you worked in different capacities at this job? What jobs at this company have you done in addition to the one you do now?

I worked here for many years, this is my only job over 30 years, yes I worked in different additions, Benefit representative, compensation analyse manager, than assistant director.


8. What is your job title and what are the three tasks or responsibilities you do most often?
My job title is Assistant Director and my three tasks are the supervisor staff, working on project and one a day transaction era. 

9. Who is your direct supervisor and what is her/his job title? How much do you interact with her/him on a weekly basis? How many people do you supervise?
My supervisor is Kelly Weaker, Senior Director. We interact few hours weekly and I supervise six people.
10. What is the best part of your job?
Knowing that I am helping the NYU Langone Medical Center to reach it goal

11. What are two examples of challenges you face working here?
Developing new ideas and systems. Meeting a customer service need.
